In this new role, with a new guitarist and a suitcase of well-produced demos, Suburban Dreams played a string of successful gigs
in and around the capital, as well as securing a place in the final of a nationwide
band competition.
But like many young bands,
a general lack of management and direction saw the band fragment and then split. Tony went on to play bass in a variety of
bands with varying degrees of success.
At the beginning of the 90’s Tony met Wayne Harris whilst helping a friend audition members for a new Bon Jovi tribute band. Immediately recognising Waynes’ talent, Tony also climbed on board and became part of the international act that is Bongiovi. It was
in Bongiovi that Tony also met drummer, James ‘Mouse’ Wright and later Waynes’ brother, Dean Harris. As the popularity of the band and the number of gigs rapidly increased, obligations to family and work forced Tony to make a reluctant choice and leave. After a break
away from playing altogether, Tony hooked up with another Jovi tribute. Gigs were less often but became increasingly fewer and fewer thus leading to guitarist - Geoff (‘H’) Lea and Tony jumping ship and signing up with the long established, Portsmouth based classic rock covers band, The Mafia. The ‘family’ now have a new bassist and Tony is free to pursue a new venture.
